I believe the world of entertainment has a place in our society. I don’t think I have to explain how I’ve benefited from it, but is it ever too much? I have often asked myself that question. No one can deny that Madonna is one of the top pop culture figures of the last few decades. The woman is worth an estimated 600 million dollars and has another concert tour coming up. There seems to be no slowing down the 49-year-old performer, but the latest coverage of her rumored divorce has graced the front pages of newspapers at a time when people are concerned about getting to and from work. Madonna’s publicist stated earlier this week that there are no plans for her to divorce husband Guy Ritchie. Whether the material girl is getting divorced or not, she will still be in the top one percent of the world when it comes to her lifestyle. There is a place for all of this stuff and I am part of it, but I don’t think it is front-page news. With one out of every two marriages ending in divorce, one shouldn’t be surprised that another celebrity is having marital issues. No relationship is perfect. I can understand that the world needs a distraction here and there, but that’s what entertainment shows and celebrity magazines are for. It’s ok to be distracted, but it shouldn’t become an art either.
