Mission Statement

DiaDay.com is media platform focusing on current events, life strategies, sports and entertainment.  Our articles and information are delivered in both English and Spanish.

For the most part, people’s personal lives revolve around their health, finances and love relationships.  DiaDay.com focuses on these areas and more, with top journalists presenting compelling articles and content to you, our readers, in both English and Spanish.

The language aspect of DiaDay.com is of vital importance. Together English and Spanish comprise a linguistic dynamic duo.

Two of the most widely used languages in the world today are English and Spanish.   English has become the language of choice for International communication.  The number one must utilized language on the Internet is English.  Spanish is the number two most utilized language internationally and occupies a prominent position online as well.

It should be mentioned that Mandarin Chinese is a widely used language. However, it is used primarily in mainland China.  In contrast, English and Spanish reach substantially beyond the borders of any given country.  Numerous nations utilize either English or Spanish as their official language.

Based on numbers provided by the Ethnologue: Languages of the World – published by SIL International – Spanish rates as the number two language in the world with an estimated 322 million native speakers. English rates number three with 309 million native speakers.

Those numbers only focus on native English or Spanish speakers though.  The total number of English speakers in the world is approximately 1.5 billion, when all speakers are taken into consideration. The Spanish language has approximately 500 million speakers when both native and non-native speakers are counted.

In absolute terms, English is the most widely spoken language in the world and Spanish is the third most widely spoken language in the world, behind Mandarin Chinese.  Actual English and Spanish speakers combined make up some 2 billion people worldwide.  The ability to communicate with people in both English and Spanish means reaching the largest combined linguistic market in the world, covering the greatest number of countries.  The cultural diversity represented by nations counting either English or Spanish as their primary language is astounding.

English is the official language (though not necessarily the sole official language), or dominant language of India, The United States, Pakistan, Nigeria, The Philippines, The United Kingdom, South Africa, Sudan, Kenya, Canada, Uganda, Ghana, Australia, Madagascar, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Ireland, New Zealand, Liberia, Jamaica, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, The Gambia, Mauritius, Swaziland, Trinidad and Tobago, Fiji, Guyana, Solomon Islands, Malta, The Bahamas, Belize, Barbados and Vanuatu.  The combined population of these countries is over 2.135 billion people.

Spanish is the official language of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, The Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela. Additionally, Spanish is spoken by an estimated 25 million people in the United States, as well as by significant portions of the populations of Andorra, Belize and Gibraltar.

English and Spanish represent two of the six official United Nations’ languages.

Focusing on three compelling areas of the human experience: health, wealth and love, while entertaining people and doing it in English and Spanish opens up lines of communication for the world.  This reminds us that we share certain basic values.  This commonality can help provide hope for the future of humankind.

For the most part, the two countries that serve to provide the majority of journalists, bloggers, writers, photographers, entertainers, etc., for diaday.com are the United States and Mexico.  These two neighbors on the North American continent represent the two countries with the largest populations of English and Spanish speakers. This is fitting for diaday.com.

However, diaday.com has an inclusive outlook.  Because of this, contributors will be participating from around the world, in either English or Spanish, irrespective of their countries of origin.  No country, culture or language has a franchise on the truth.  diaday.com realizes this.

Consequently, you may well be reading this “About” page in a language other than English or Spanish.  The reason is simple.  Studies show that while English is the most utilized language on the Internet, with Spanish having a very prominent place as well, most people who speak another language search for information in their native tongue.

A native Hindi speaker may well read English, but he or she will probably search in Hindi for the information sought.  A person in Brazil will most probably search for information utilizing a Portuguese search engine, but many Brazilians read Spanish, or English, and would be happy with information provided in those languages.

Whether your native tongue is English, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Arabic, Japanese, Portuguese, Hebrew, Italian, French, German, Dutch, Polish, Norwegian, Swedish, Swahili, Finish, Russian, Czech, Tagalog, Indonesian or one of the other hundreds upon hundreds of languages in the world today, we sincerely hope that diaday.com will serve your needs and stimulate your interests.

Building bridges across language barriers is a big part of what diaday.com is about. Bringing the world closer by sharing useful information about our hopes and dreams is what diaday.com is about.

At diaday.com, it is a new day.
