A tradition started in 1958 adding to the diversity of New York City, has now become a nation wide celebration- The National Puerto Rican Day Parade. In early June, the NYC Puerto Rican Parade displayed the richness of the Puerto Rican culture and pride. Thousands of people marched, sang and danced to offer the city a taste of the flavor of the island.  This event is also a showcase for celebrities from Puerto Rico or of Puerto Rican ancestry.

Geraldo Rivera and other famous personalities marched at the parade. Among many other shows, Rivera hosted the newsmagazine Geraldo at Large, and appears regularly on Fox News Channel.  In February, a book written by Rivera was published- His Panic, Why Americans Fear Hispanics in the U.S.
